Ethan Hawke is indeed an actor, director, as well as screenplay from the United States. He has received four Academy Award nominations as well as a Tony Award nomination. Hawke’s filmography includes three feature films, three off-Broadway plays, as well as a documentary. He’s also the author of three books and a graphic novel. He made his cinematic debut inside the science fiction picture Explorers in 1985, before breaking out with the drama Dead Poets Society in 1989. He acted in a number of films before landing a leading role in the Generation X movie Reality Bites in 1994, for which he gained critical acclaim. Hawke co-starred with Julie Delpy in Richard Linklater’s Before trilogy, which included Before Sunrise (1995), Before Sunset (2004), and Before Midnight (2005).

Hawke has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay on two occasions.

His performances in Training Day (2001) as well as Boyhood (2001) were lauded, as were his literary contributions to Before Sunset and Before Midnight (2014). Hawke was also nominated for Screen Actors Guild Awards for both films, as well as nominations for the British Academy Film Award as well as the Golden Globe Award for the latter. Gattaca (1997), the modern rendition of Hamlet (2000), the action-thriller Assault on Precinct 13, Sidney Lumet’s criminal drama Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead (2007), and the horror feature Sinister are some of his other films. He received numerous accolades, including the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actor, the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead, and a nomination for the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Actor, for his performance as a Protestant minister in Paul Schrader’s drama First Reformed (2017).

Hawke has also featured in a number of stage performances in addition to his film career. He made his Broadway debut in Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull in 1992, and his performance in Tom Stoppard’s The Coast of Utopia in 2007 earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play. Hawke was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Director of a Play for his work on Sam Shepard’s A Lie of the Mind in 2010. In 2018, he co-starred with Paul Dano in the Roundabout Theater Company’s staging of Sam Shepard’s play True West.

Hawke appeared in three movies in 2013, all of them were distinct genres. Hawke was reunited with Delpy and Linklater in Before Midnight, the third episode of the Before trilogy.
